THE TEAM

  • Jake is a born and raised New Yorker, who hails from the upper west side of Manhattan. Jake spent 30 years living in the city before moving to Denver in 2014. He is a graduate of Stony Brook University with a degree in English Literature (2006) and Columbia University’s School of Continuing Education with a focus on Management and Economics (2008). Jake’s career in the food & beverage industry began at the age of 18, and he has since worked in every hospitality role imaginable – from dishwasher to owner. Jake attended and graduated from the prestigious French Culinary Institute with a Grand Diploma in Culinary Arts in 2009, and subsequently cooked at Danny Meyer’s Michelin-starred “The Modern” in New York City’s MoMA. Jake left the kitchen in 2010 and moved on to service, management, and operations roles at Steven Hanson’s BR Guest, with restaurateur Nicholas Morgenstern at Goat Town and with Chef Harold Moore at his lauded West Village restaurant Commerce.

After deciding to lay down roots in Denver at the age of 30, Jake set out to launch his first concept, Hudson Hill and founded Pearl Street Hospitality with the ambition to grow and evolve with Denver’s booming restaurant and bar scene. Jake is passionate about strong coffee, a boozy Old Fashioned and cozy, local hangs… a passion he crafted into the founding ideology of Pearl Street Hospitality – to create “the modern neighborhood bar.” Hudson Hill, a craft cocktail focused bar and coffee shop opened in May 2016 to both critical acclaim and much success. Jake subsequently leveraged this to open Lady Jane in 2019 and then The Wild in 2021, all coveted neighborhood bars and coffee shops that proudly embrace the communities they serve. In his free time, Jake is a regular at his local yoga studio, and can always be found making his way up or down a mountain no matter the season. An inspired, creative and hard-working hospitality enthusiast with a unique multidisciplinary skill set, Jake looks forward to launching many more successful ventures in the years to come.

  • Stuart has been in the hospitality industry for the past 20 years. His first job was as a dishwasher at his hometown steak house in Texas where he worked his way up to busser, server, and then bartender (he definitely was not old enough to be serving booze at the time). Stuart moved to DC to attend George Washington University; While in school, he worked as a host, bartender, and sommelier in some of DC’s most renowned restaurants. After completion of his BA in International Affairs and MA in Nationalism Studies, Stuart realized that hospitality was the career that he wanted and began a ten-year run in management.

After working on the operations and financial side of the hospitality world, Stuart wanted to get back in touch with his roots and made the move back to bartending with the goal of running his own bar program. In the interest of pursuing this ambition, Stuart moved from DC to Denver to take the role of General Manager at Lady Jane. In this role, Stuart has had the chance to build a bar program from the ground up and watch it flourish even amid a global pandemic. He is extremely proud of the work he has put into Lady Jane and the team he has built

Stuart loves the challenge of being the General Manager of a high-volume craft cocktail bar and truly thrives in a fast-paced environment where ingenuity, innovation, and education drive culture. Stuart constantly strives to learn more about his ever-growing field through studies and personal experiences at bars, restaurants, breweries, distilleries, and wineries. Stuart has completed certifications through the BarSmarts Program and the Court of Master Sommeliers and can always be found pouring through cocktail and spirit books. When it comes to his team and his guests, Stuart always wants to help find something new and exciting to share in an engaging and fun way.

Stuart will confidently tell you that hospitality is his life. Every guest is welcomed – as if they are guests in his own home – with warmth, kindness, and enthusiasm; and it is his conviction to provide an experience at Lady Jane that is genuine, unpretentious, and fun.

  • Anders has been working in hospitality for the last decade with a primary focus on craft coffee. Originally from a small town in northern Michigan, Anders got his first job in the industry at a family-owned coffee shop called Cafe Rosetta. Starting as a dishwasher and prep cook, he realized a passion for hospitality and coffee and moved behind the counter to develop skills as a barista. The shop itself was the focal point of the community and Anders was able to develop relationships with regulars and other local business owners…a community that truly fostered his passion for people and hospitality. Anders’ ambition soon took him to Denver to open Pig Train coffee in Union Station as General Manager. After three years in this high-volume corporate environment, he started to miss being a part of a community. Interactions and relationships with guests and room for creativity were calling, and when the opportunity to become Pearl Street Hospitality's Coffee Director became available, he jumped.

Anders loves to play with the idea of what coffee can be, and how it can be served. He first experienced Hudson Hill as a guest and fell in love with the space and the type of service that was offered during the evening as well as the day…He wanted to be a part of a team that was creative and had that focus on guest experience, and Hudson Hill fits that description to a T. With being a part of the team at Hudson Hill, you become a part of the neighborhood as well, which is something Anders finds truly satisfying. Anders has been leading the team at Hudson Hill and The Wild for six years now, and continues to love experimenting with flavors, coffee and cocktail service and welcoming new guests into his space as if they have been regulars this whole time. When not at work slinging coffees or the occasional cocktail, Anders can be found at the climbing gym, riding his bike, or at home tucking into a book from his well-stocked library with his two cats Kermie and Rosie.
